+HMB As a skinny, 50 year old guy (6’1” 145lbs) trying to add a little muscle, I buy the Creatine + HMB combo because I sure as hell don’t have much fat to metabolize and I want to gain muscle not burn it up. If I’m misguided in my use for said purpose, speak up now!

If I am currently ~230lbs and eat ~3 main meal (breakfast, lunch, and something small in the afternoon), other than that nothing planned, maybe a handfull of grapes for the whey that would result is ~76g of whey (230/3) or in this case I should divide with 4 as the grapes and whey counts as 1 meal ? That is still 57,5g . My current whey intake is 2 spoon (25g) Mammut whey. What do you recommend ? Also I take creating (since 2 weeks) morning and evening 2x3g (1 small spoon) and sometimes mixed with the whey in water . Is it ok, as some say this will make it not work properly.

  37. @Grumpy1098 on October 23, 2025 at 12:15 pm

Doc, my job takes place underground. 24hrs. I meal prep but for about 50% of the time my solo shift i work graveyard, 9pm-5am. I make it a habit to eat around 530pm then going back to bed. Any advice of how to be healthy etc.. while being limited in resources (kitchen and space). im unsure how late/early morning snacking (2am 3am) would affect me. Mini stick of jerky, granola, yerba mate, fruit leather, dark choc mix w/ nuts. I do make it a habit to work out most of the time the day of after work and always the day after on my off day.

  43. @CarlosFlores-wx9qm on October 23, 2025 at 12:21 pm

Dr, you are not only insanely insightful, you are also easily one of the FUNNIEST MFers alive.

  44. @breakdown7553 on October 23, 2025 at 12:22 pm

It’s crazy that you’re saying about creatine, that you’re getting a "quarter pump" from it, which is subtile ofc and more noticable in the beginning. But that was EXACTLY what was starting to happen to me, a few days in of taking creatine. Still to this day I am debating in my head, if this was placebo or not, but I didn’t even expected that to happen, that I would feel basically all the time, that my muscles are a tad more full. I was even saying that the other day to someone else, trying to describe what I was feeling. I said, that it feels almost as if I would have 10-20% pump all the time….. and now hearing you say that, is kinda crazy, because I just couldnt get used to it being placebo, since I for sure felt that.

  48. @Daltondootv on October 23, 2025 at 12:27 pm

Why does the RP diet app keep telling me to take my protein shake before my workouts? For clarification, I wake up at 5, take my preworkout, wait 15-20 min, take my shake, workout for an hour to an hour and a half, relax for 10 min, then eat.

  49. @refferman1 on October 23, 2025 at 12:30 pm
