Right now the S tier brands for gym are (sadly) Alo and Lululemon. I hate to ride the mainstream brands, but in this case you are sacrificing a lot for not going with one of the two. Using their gym shorts and pants for the last year, and some of the soft cotton tees. Well worth the price. A step above Nike, Adidas and that category of apparel.
I suppose if impressing your gymcrush is important, this is a reasonable approach.
