I like an Epsom salt bath to recover although not during the summer
I wear compression knee-high socks for all my runs. It delays the fatigue of my calf. Especially my right calf which has a bit varicose vein issue. And it is recommend for everyone having long distance flights.
I’m a heavier and older runner with old military injuries and I swear by my compression socks. I don’t work out without them, and have noticed less pain in my shins and knees. Even if it is a placebo, I’ll take it and continue to wear them.

It works well for support purposes only. Not gonna help you in the end by lack of leg strength and mobility workout.
I got a new pair of compression shorts. But I also wear compression socks because I am recovering from shin splints. Are there any side effects in blood circulation if I wear both because the knees are the only part that is not compressed?
I have lymphodema from surgery years ago and compression tights ( 2XU or UA for me) work massively well to clear that and not using is 100% noticeable. No placebo affect here and I run in them
Is there any scientific studies to back this up? The fitness industry is plagued with pseudoscience. I’d really appreciate some links to peer-reviewed studies. A bunch of anecdotal stories doesn’t equate to data. Thanks.
How tigh the arm sleev need to be?
Depends on how hard you compress.
I have arthritis in both knees this causes the surrounding muscles to tighten to the point of numbness I find that if I use about 3 metres of exercise band folded in half and wrap above and below my knee and do about 30 body wieght squats over a minute and immediately release the band’s I can then go for a 10 to 20 minute lite run without pain
Compression supports key muscles which improves circulation? That’s a bit of a stretch upon which all other purported benefits are attached. Compression supports vascular tissues like veins, reducing blood pooling and fluid leakage through the capillaries into surrounding spaces (adema).

I bought a pair of Normatec boots a few months ago. Been using them almost after every run. A very pricey purchase, but I like them. Don’t think they do any miracles, but they do help recover faster, and feel fresher particularly after a hard workout.
I have been trail running now for over four years and always use 2XU socks and 2XU tights (mostly the MCS tight) and they seem to work for me compared to non-compression socks and tights. Whilst they do not prevent you from getting any minor injury’s or niggles they certainly seem to reduce it from my experience. If I have been on a very long or challenging run then I also wear their recovery tights for a few hours and that seems to aid recovery too.

We humans make lactate, not lactic acid (yes, there’s a difference). And no it doesn’t need to be “flushed out” – it clears automatically once exercise ceases.
SOmetimes these are optional. But sometimes its for medical reason. Knee high compression that go over the foot and toe are the best at 15-20 strength and get athletic version of teraform or truform.

Anyone who has used a calf sock or sleeve to help them recover from a calf injury knows that the benefit of compression is anything but placebo.
Highly unscientific, no literature used and a veiled way to sell a product.

Why do the majority of compression sleeves only come with one, like I didn’t know everybody has only one leg
I don’t buy it. Compression flattens the blood vessels, hindering circulation, slowing recovery. People wearing a compression sleeve on their knees is just a sympathy sleeve, just to let everyone know they’re injured. Compression might help if you have a loose joint for some reason. I doubt very seriously if you’re a sports doctor and have done years of research on this. Hey, wear it if you want, but I’m an old ex-runner and they’ve been saying yes and no on this for decades, and i say no. Do what you want.
It might be a little silly question, but how tight those socks should be?
can you still gain muscle from wearing this?
I ruck (Walk with a lot of weight on my back) twice a week. Last Saturday I did 8 miles with compression socks on. My calves are really sore. Obviously the worked a lot harder with compression socks on. Do you know why?

The human body doesn’t produce/use lactic acid. It produces lactate during anaerobic glycolysis, but lactate has nothing to do with the common perception that there’s lactic acid in our muscles causing DOMS etc.
Lactic acid is used in food production to make yogurt.

I use inflatable compression sleeves even though I don’t really need them. It helps me sleep better ! By the way where is this nice green area that you filmed the video ? It looks like England.
Since i am a new runner i cannot just start running and not stop i get winded and my muscles tighten up. So running in intervals really helped me to actually become a runner and not be discouraged.
