What Happens To Your Body After Taking Creatine For 30 Days?
What exactly does creatine do to your body? How does creatine work? And where does it go? What creatine benefits should you expect to feel, and how soon? Is it safe? And are there any creatine side effects you should know about? Today we’ll cover all that by doing a deep dive into what to expect throughout your first 30 days of taking creatine.
So, first things first: what does creatine do to your body? Creatine is a substance we naturally produce and use up as an indirect energy source to power our muscles through high intensity activities. For this reason, we store most of our creatine in our muscles (95%). But, about 5% of creatine is also stored in the brain. Supplementing with creatine can increase our baseline levels by about 30%. As a result, our muscles have more creatine to power our muscles with, leading to more strength and muscle mass overtime. But approximately 20-30% of individuals naturally walk around with just about fully saturated muscle creatine levels. As a result, they experience little to no benefit from creatine supplementation.
When you first start taking creatine, it takes time for your muscles to become fully saturated with that additional creatine. How long this takes depends on how much creatine you take every day. Using the loading method, it’ll take about 7 days to fully saturate your muscles. The other method is to take a baseline dose of creatine every day and to slowly increase your creatine levels overtime, often taking about 2-3 weeks to reach full saturation.
Both methods get you to the same end destination, but will differ in some of the creatine side effects you may experience. For example, one of the side effects most people experience during this saturation phase is water retention and a small spike in your bodyweight. Another often reported side effect is stomach discomfort. If you experience this, or want to avoid experiencing it in the first place, try splitting up your creatine dose into multiple smaller doses throughout the day if you’re on the loading protocol. If it doesn’t work, stick with the non-loading protocol. In addition to this, avoid taking creatine on an empty stomach or with caffeine as those both scenarios seem to increase the likelihood of an upset stomach. Lastly, when you take your creatine, you can try mixing it with hot water to get it fully dissolved and see if that helps.
Alright so the last side effect you and your doctor should know about has to do with your creatinine levels. Creatinine is a breakdown product of creatine. Since you’re taking more creatine, your creatinine levels will also slightly increase. And since high creatinine levels can indicate impaired kidney function, this can be alarming to see on a blood test if you’re not aware of it. However, creatine has been consistently proven to be a safe supplement for healthy individuals and your health professional should be aware of its effect on creatinine.
Alright so our muscles are now locked and loaded with creatine! What happens now? What creatine benefits can you expect? First off, your strength should start increasing across most of your movements. Note that even just a slight increase in your strength or reps is a very solid return as far as supplements go and can lead to significantly greater muscle mass overtime. In addition to just improving performance however, a study that surveyed 52 NCAA athletes found that 81% of them reported faster recovery from their training as one of the benefits they noticed after taking creatine. So after you reach saturation, pay attention to how fast you recover between your workouts as you may notice an improvement. Lastly, creatine supplementation could consistently improve performance on short-term memory and tests of intelligence, with the benefits becoming even more apparent under stressed states such as sleep deprivation.
So that should give you a very good idea as to how does creatine work, exactly, and what to expect once you start taking creatine. That said guys, creatine or any supplement for that matter, is just the icing on the cake. Is creatine safe. Is there any hairfall problem or any other
No side effect
Has anyone experienced hair loss after taking creatine?
I mix my creatine with my pre-workout every time. Never had any stomach issues .
What happens if you take creatine and don’t work out
Makes sense that vegans and vegetarians get the most benefit because they literally have zero creatine intake prior to supplementing. There are no non animal creatines on Earth. They also require a lot of other supplementation as human are no where near being herbivores.
Just added creatine to my coffee at the start of this & now on the toilet finishing this video 😂
Can I take 10 a day instead of 20 to do kind of a slower loading phase? Taking 20 a day is brutal
Dude I thought you were gonna dry scoop at 4:50, I was like "DON’T DO IT MAN!" LOL and 40 seconds after I wrote that original comment, homie dry scoops it at 5:30. Monster.
Hope you enjoyed this one! What side effects or benefits have YOU experienced from taking creatine? Comment below! As for the hair loss concerns, this is something I’ve covered in a past creatine video with the conclusion that it’s probably not a concern, but if you want to play it safe and do have a family history of male pattern baldness, then you can consider staying away from it. BUT there still has yet to be any new research (all of this relies heavily on one study), so we don’t have a clear answer as of yet!
Headaches
All I ever noticed from creatine was water in my muscles. I thought it was actual muscle until it disappeared a week after cycling off of it.
Sleep! Why don’t people mention their sleep getting fucked!
I’ve used creatine on and off for a few years and again fairly recently. I’ve passed through the loading phase now, and have noticed modest gains in my weight training performance, but very noticeable improvements in cognitive functions.
Is it 3g per day or 5g per day?
A bit of stomach pain now and then. But I have just started taking it. I feel so much more like me again in various ways. Love my muscles 😊
I know I’m commenting on a 2 year old video but can you make a video talking about what happens after you stop taking creatine? No side effects besides water weight
I did a 1week loadout my last day was today and the worst side effect its Diarrhoea.
For me i experienced semi-diarrhea after some days. After a week or two my reps and weight significantly i creased. From 15 reps with 12kg curls i could suddenly do 15 reps of 15kg
Creatine definitely affects my sleep quality and duration sadly.
How long til your weight goes back to normal
can you take creatine with pre-workout ?
After 4 weeks no side effects and no benefits observed
The only side effect is my biceps got bigger
Where were you years ago
Why do the dudes always have to wear a vest doing these videos
Thanks for this information brother ❤😮
I’m over 50 and consumed créatine for approximately 1 month. Yes it’s true I experienced about 10 % more in reps, weight gain 3 pounds, started urinate way more often and stopped consuming it
I used it for 30 days and one day my clothes ripped off and I turned green
I’ve never taken creatine, 35 years old. Just started going back to the gym about a month ago after taking an 8 year hiatus. Started taking creatine about 2 weeks ago and I must say, in my last 2 sessions my strength and reps have increased and after workouts, my muscles feel noticeably firmer. Not sure if that’s because I’m only a month back into lifting and cardio or if the creatine is giving me a little boost. Nonetheless, I like to think it’s helping me. lol.
One side effect the first time i took creatine, which freaked me out at first, was the sense of pins and needles all over the body.
Bruhh the first 3 days will bring you near death!!!!! Nobody tells you that but I will.
If you make it passed 3 days you’re good to go
Anybody having kidney issues stay away from it
What do you mean by the gods blessed you , you don’t believe in Jesus???
direa
side affects! i was farting like a mofo last week @ work,i was walking past folk doing "drive by;s"lol, but only happens if i take it with milk tho.
does this also work for creatine pills (san ph modified creatine)?
What side effects? I’m a little more than a month into the non-loading protocol, often taking mixed in my second cup of coffeee, and I can’t point to any side effects. I don’t presently do ANY workout, and have notice a tiny improvement in muscle bulk.
You get bloated thats what happens
Guy tipped
explosive diarrhea was my favorite side effect.
Great video and editing!!!
Which is best creative ?
I started taking creatine 4 weeks into a weight loss phase. I has been losing 1kg per week but during a 10 day loading phase I lost only a few hundred grams. I assume this was water retention in muscle.
I’m definitely noticing more size and definition in my chest shoulders and arms. Hard to know how much is from the fact I’m training for the first time in years v the impact of creatine.
I can’t stop pissing
I took 5 grams of creatine monohydrate (star nutrition) daily for 1 year until I recently noticed that my hair was getting thinner and started falling off on top/back of my scalp. This has most likely happened for some months, but I really noticed it after I got home from the barber the last time, a patch is almost bald on top. Hair thinning and hair falling off does not run in the family, so I am shocked that it happened to me. It worked great in the gym for muscle fullness and all that, but it is not worth it to lose my hair for it. Right now (after I have stopped for 3 weeks) I just hope that my hair will stop falling out, and that new hair eventually will start to grow back
I guess my loading phase is over because I lifted heavier and longer yesterday than I ever have in my life. It was almost laughable. I’m a tall, really thin guy and have NEVER benched 200 lbs and I did 5 reps out of nowhere.
the side effect of farting more
Best Take on Creatine. The visuals help understand and inspire me
3g a day vs 5g a day
