The Worst Exercise for Men Over 40 (and What to Do Instead)

The Worst Exercise for Men Over 40 (and What to Do Instead)

Still doing long cardio to lose belly fat? Stop now. 🚫

For men over 40, 60-minute treadmill or elliptical sessions are the worst fat loss strategy.

What it’s doing instead:
· Raises cortisol 😤
· Burns muscle 💪❌
· Lowers testosterone ⬇️
· Increases belly fat storage 🪫

That’s a perfect recipe for being soft, tired, and stuck. 😮‍💨

Do this instead:
✅ Start with bodyweight metabolic workouts to master form
✅ Add dumbbells to build muscle and burn fat
✅ Use resistance bands if you’ve got joint pain — safe AND effective

Muscle = metabolism 🔥
Short, intense workouts = better hormones 🧬
Less time. More results. ⏱️➡️💥

Follow @funkroberts and stop wasting time on cardio that kills your gains.

Hey Funk, can you pleas help me whit your advice? I have access just to streetworkout park but I really love your type of workouts. Can you pleas give me some advice, how would you structure your training plan if you have just your bodyweight and pullup/dips bars?

Hey Funk. I’ve been in your program now for over 2 years, and I must say that I look completely different now. I lost the belly fat, gained muscle, and I’m more flexible and confident. Cardio did not work for me. What you just described is exactly what was happening to me. I can’t stop now. THANK YOU for your guidance 🙏

Im doing a slightly modified version of an old funk roberts mma conditioning workout lately and it is getting my cardio through the roof along with getting me stronger on bodyweight movements

This is the truth. I was prediabetic in 2020 running 3-5 miles daily while not being able to get rid of a small belly. I stopped running, switched to doing Funk workouts in 2021 to present and I’m no longer prediabetic. My physician agreed stating blood sugar levels are stabilized more efficiently through strength and bodyweight workouts over steady state cardio like running. Thank you for keeping me healthy at 54 years old funk.

Nowadays I do a lot of metabolic bodyweight exercises, will also start training Muay Thai… it changed my life.

But If you are 34, ist it ok to go for a long run 1:30h one/twice a week? Do it because it relaxes me

It’s because of this that I started hitting the kettlebells after I hit 40. Sadly I wish I had known more about kettlebells sooner because I would have incorporated them into my workouts years sooner. I feel all around stronger, my since of balance has improved and my cardio has improved significantly. I’ve built more strength and endurance while slimming the fat around my midline down significantly. I’m a believer in mixing up your workouts to get the most bang for the buck and not wasting time on useless exercises that are frankly a waste of time and do more harm than good. Thank you “Mr. Funk”, I’m a fan of your channel and I’ve incorporated a lot of your workouts into my training routines.

This training is working for me, too. And I’m a woman over 40. I’ve been doing the 14 day shred in increments, (just the ones I feel able to do) and the results are incredible!
