WOW! I’m going to become soon a personal trainer in a gym and this video is just gold for soft skills and behaviour approach, a lot harder to earn rather than technical knowledge. Thank you.

I would love to see the full course on how to be a good PT. Is that online?

  12. @nino2real817 on October 1, 2025 at 10:42 am

  13. @jongrotrian5067 on October 1, 2025 at 10:43 am

Man. I’m a personal trainer and these are valuable insights for sure, gained from your experience, obviously. If even half of the personal trainers in the world followed half of these tips, the industry would improve drastically lol

  14. @haynesmi86 on October 1, 2025 at 10:43 am

Watching in 2024 and Dr Mike looks and sounds so much younger in this than his current videos

  15. @perochialjoe on October 1, 2025 at 10:43 am

For what it’s worth, I just had to drop my personal trainer despite really wanting to stick with them. The two biggest reasons were:

    1. They stopped paying attention to how hard they were working me which lead to me getting injured (despite telling them I was fatigued and my performance was down in EVERY regard for 2 weeks).

    2. Setting legitimately unattainable goals. I’m not saying they were pushing me and I was just lazy. I mean in less than a month I went from running my first ever 3 mile with a 10 min / mi pace to them telling me to run 5 miles at an 8:30 min / mi pace. When I couldn’t do it? Next week they told me to do it again. Motivation tanked and I started dreading every single workout because I could never reach a goal anymore and I felt like I was letting my trainer down.

His head was so much smaller 4 years ago

  17. @jameswilkes451 on October 1, 2025 at 10:44 am

Hahaha! Ah that ending was good. I expected it to be another meathead listing off some vague ideas about how to "own the gym", however your conversational style, warmness, humour and expertise shone in this video! You clearly know what you are on about. Much inspiration to me, a young lad who wishes to be a personal trainer and needs all the help they can get!

  18. @surfnturf6968 on October 1, 2025 at 10:45 am

I lost 110 pounds in 5 months, this motivated me to help others to lose weight and reach their goals, do you think I should take the course and can you make a good income training? I want to work with athletes.

  25. @Zachdennis21 on October 1, 2025 at 11:00 am

As a personal trainer who chases strength and size it’s hard to understand how to help others with different goals and cal intakes

  26. @gainzbyalara on October 1, 2025 at 11:00 am

  28. @Sirspinnaz on October 1, 2025 at 11:03 am

Just passed my cpt exam. I’m ready to get into the fitness as a trainer. I’ve been around fitness all my life due to playing professional basketball. I’m ready to help people make better choices💯

  29. @joshuap312 on October 1, 2025 at 11:05 am

As somone who really had a hard time but was very dedicated my first years of training with no trainer and no a CPT. I already had all these tenants in mind. Totally agree with these, they seem common sense honestly. I’ve heard not everyone does this though, but great ideas.

Also want to say that the “stimulus-to-time ratio” concept is hide because YOU ARE RIGHT – nobody wants to commit to more than 2 sessions/week it seems… thank you terming that concept!

  44. @Brandon-po2ps on October 1, 2025 at 11:16 am

Thank you heaps Mike! I’m looking to restart my career in the fitness industry as a P.T so I’m trying to get as much insight as possible to get it right this time. So many gold nuggets in here. 🙂
